Pete was born in Oxnard on April 7, 1920 to Urbain and Marie Etchechoury. He attended Oxnard High School and Xavier College. He served in the USAF from 1941-1945. In 1941, he married Virginia Moureaux who preceded him in death in 1976. He is survived by his wife; Mary Jeanne Arosteguy, daughters; Julie (Jim), Melissa, son Jon and sister Christine of Somis. Pete had four grandchildren; Kelly, Greg, Jason and Kirsten. There are four great-grandchildren; Jacob, Jackson, Kyler and Jameson. He also leaves behind his step children; Marilyn, Ron (Meg) and Arlene (Danny), and grandchildren Kristin, Michael, Marie, Bill, Julia, and Cody. He is preceded in death by his grandson Trevor, brother Martin, sisters Mary and Josephine. After the war, Pete returned to Camarillo where he and his brother, Martin, owned and operated the Richfield and later the Arco gas station on Ventura Blvd. He was named a Camarillo Don by the Pleasant Valley Historical Society in 1990. Pete was a man of integrity and honesty. He was dedicated to his work, his family and his country. He was passionate about fly fishing, elk/deer and bighorn sheep hunting. We will miss his sense of fun, laughter, and that smile. May he find peace and comfort in God's loving arms. A celebration of Pete's life will be held sat the Las Posas Country Club, 955 Fairway Drive, Camarillo from 4-7 p.m. on April 22. We invite friends to share memories with his family. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 or Buena Vista Hospice care. Peter G. Etchechoury, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on April 17, with his family by his side.
