George Leonard Donnahoo  (1923 - 2010)

George Leonard Donnahoo passed away on May 6, 2010 in Camarillo, after a suffering a fall last month, the day before Easter Sunday.

He was born on May 6, 1923 in Inman, South Carolina. In his youth, he served his country as a B-17 pilot during World War II and flew numerous combat missions over Nazi occupied Europe. His entire crew managed to survive after being shot down over France, where they were rescued by General Patton's Third Army during the summer of 1944. After the war, George took a job as a pilot for Capital Airlines and was later recalled for active duty to fly in the Berlin Airlift.

In 1967, he moved his family to Camarillo, eventually retiring as a captain for United Airlines in 1983. He was an avid golfer and for many years a member of the Las Posas Country Club, and club champion.

He was a loving father, husband and friend and he will be missed dearly.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday May 8, at Griffin Family Funeral Chapel, 1075 E Daily Dr., Camarillo.

George Donnahoo is survived by his wife Terry, five children and three step children.
