|
A resident of Glendale, Calif., for most of her adult life, Irene was employed as an escrow secretary for 18 years at Fidelity Federal Savings and Loan in Glendale until her retirement in 1988. Irene was active in the Glendale chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Mayflower Society, Magna Charta Dames, White Shrine, life member of the Sovereign Colonial Society Americans of Royal Descent, and various genealogical societies. Irene and George wrote a genealogy book published in 1980 entitled "Mooney-Garner Ancestry." The family would like to thank the staff of Moran Manor, an assisted care facility in Ventura, and Dr. Bruce Barbosa, for their many years of excellent care in taking care of Irene, which enabled her to have such a wonderful quality of life until her passing. George and Irene were married 56 years before George passed in 1992. She was predeceased by her parents, Clyde E. Garner and Mable E. Garner (Nichols) of Lincoln, Neb. Irene is survived by her two children, Errol and Rita, and grandchildren, Sheryl (Bill) Colletta of Newhall, Calif., Darlene (Ron) Wentworth of Cedar Park, Texas, Errol (Mary) Mooney, Jr. of Hermitage, Tenn., Michelle (Thomas) Greene of Brentwood, Calif., Frank (Michele) Frayer of South Lyon, Mich., and Patricia (Kevin) Williams of Oakley, Calif.; 20 great-grandchildren; and her good friend, Florence Chan of Glendale.
