Margaret (Peg) Jane Gebhardt died peacefully at St Johns Pleasant Valley Hospital on Thursday, June 10, 2010.

Peg was born in New York City on Sept. 21, 1927 to Floyd W. and Queenie D. Crosley. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Montgomery County, Md., where Peg grew up.

Upon her graduation from Sherwood High School in 1945 she went to work for the Veterans Administration and attended George Washington University. When the VA offices were decentralized, Peg accepted employment with the Department of the Navy, Bureau of Ordinance where she met her future husband, Robert. They were married in the Washington National Cathedral on Aug. 20,1955 90 days after their first date.

After her marriage, Peg entered a new, exciting and fulfilling career as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She moved to Camarillo in 1965 after residing in Fredonia, N.Y., and Bellflower, Chula Vista, Anaheim, and Port Hueneme, Calif. Peg had been a library volunteer at Valley Lindo school and was an active member of St. Columbas Episcopal Church having served as a Sunday School teacher, founding book store manager, prayer chain leader, small group facilitator, and a friend to all.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Robert and De Witt.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 55 years, Robert; daughters, Elizabeth Gebhardt and Deborah Rackerby (husband Robert); granddaughters, Robin and Bryna Rackerby; sister, Miriam Cannon; and brother, William Crosley. She will be surely missed by all those whose lives she has touched.

A memorial service celebrating Pegs life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 26 at St. Columbas Episcopal Church in Camarillo.
