She married her high school sweetheart, Robert Tanner, on June 15, 1945 when he came home after three years in Europe with the 16th Infantry of Big Red One. In 1960, the Abex Co. moved the family to California. They settled in Camarillo and became active in the town.

Virginia joined Camarillo Y Wives and still belongs. They were also both on the board of the USO in Oxnard and National Counsel. For 14 years they enjoyed their sailboat at Channel Islands Harbor, where they made many friends with whom they shared rides and fun.

She is survived by her son, Robert Jr., of Tracy; daughter-in-law, Holly, of Mar Vista; sister, Patricia Mongielo, of Buffalo, N.Y.; a grandson and a great-grandchild, of Tracy; and nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1996, following a long illness, and her son, Lee in 2009.

She requested no services. If so inclined, donations in Virginia Hall Tanner's name may be made to the Friends of the Camarillo Library or to the Ventura County Museum of History and Art.
