Thousand Oaks, CA
Yolanda Bandemer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, mother in law, and friend went home to be with her son Steve, sister Fina, mother Josie and mother in law, Adele on November 15, 2019. She was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Yolanda was born November 1, 1940 in El Paso Texas to Fernando and Josefina Padilla. She moved to the Los Angeles area in her teens. Along with her sister and mother she developed strong bonds with her maternal cousins who lovingly called her “Yoli”. In 1967 she married Neil Bandemer and together they raised three sons: Rick Laughton, Steve Laughton, and Mike Bandemer. The family settled in Thousand Oaks in 1981.
Yolanda worked in quality control for Paper Mate and Jafra Cosmetics until her early 40’s. Her career was cut short when she could no longer work due to poor health. For the next 35 years Yolanda spent her days caring for her five beautiful granddaughters: Jenny, Lauren, Alyssa, Kayla and Haley.
Yolanda enjoyed watching sports (especially the Lakers, Kings, Dodgers and USC), shopping, and walking the mall. She will be remembered for her generosity, loyalty and unbreakable spirit. Yolanda survived rheumatic fever, breast cancer, open heart surgery, and a stroke. She lost her battle to heart, liver, and kidney disease. Yolanda never complained about her poor health but fought courageously until the very end. Just the day before she passed away Yolanda told her doctors, “I’m feeling good”.
A memorial service will be held in Yolanda’s honor at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, December 5 at Calvary Community Church at 5495 Via Rocas, Westlake Village.
