Thousand Oaks, CA
Helen Mary Leffler died peacefully on May 30, 2021 after a long and tragic battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was under the loving care of her daughter and son-in-law Valerie and Robert, as well as the wonderful care given to her by the Tanglao family at Golden Life Assisted Living in Thousand Oaks, for the past 11 years. She was born on July 9, 1930, to her parents Ambrocio & Francisca Rodriguez. She had four loving siblings, sisters Grace, Olga and Martha; and brother Raul.
Helen met the love of her life, Alfred Eugene “Gene” Leffler at a USO dance when Gene was enlisted with the USMC serving in the Korean War and they later married on June 20, 1953. As a testament to their love, they were married for 57 years until Gene's passing in 2010. Together they lived a fun and active life; a life that was filled with family, friends, traveling, great Halloween parties, and their very own "Tana's Mexican Restaurant" located in Delta, Colorado.
Helen worked for many years as a dental assistant, waitress, and then business owner, all while raising her four children. She was a loving wife and mother and was known as one the the kindest persons to everyone she came across.
Helen had four children: Don, Ron, Eugene, and Valerie, and she loved them all unconditionally. She adored her grandchildren, Justin, Montana, Jennifer, Ryan, and Kyle; “adopted grandchildren” Lyndsey & Dylan; great grandchildren, Austin, Dillon, Dustin, Baylee, and Ella; and “adopted great grandson” Ryder. Helen was also blessed with many nieces & nephews.
We were all so blessed to have her in our lives! At God's calling, she is now free from her longtime affliction and able to dance and laugh with her family and friends who went to heaven before her.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 12 at Assumption Catholic Cemetery, 1380 Fitzgerald Rd., Simi Valley.
We love you mom, and you will always be in our hearts!
